“A brand is what we tell the consumer it is!”
Not all businesses make it to becoming a brand. Even if you are best at what you do, but do not communicate to your customers well, chances are you are still not a brand. There is a reason why some shops are always throbbing with customers while others are empty even in festive season. It is not only about what you sell but how you put forth your business as a brand makes all the difference.
As per the marketing experts, design elements of a business influence customers strongly to make instant buying decisions. It is all a matter of a few seconds that a customer decides to either enter your point of sale or just go past it to explore more. So, you have only a few seconds to impress! But what really works to make them choose you over your competitors?
Each display of your brand which is used to communicate with customers plays a role in creating your image. To put it simple, your signage, logo, interiors, packaging, leaflets, and even business card ‘talk’. It gives an idea to consumers about your business and what to expect from you.

Strong Design is Key
Brand design or association is the key to branding of any business. From colors to visuals that you choose, say a lot about your concept, drive, and vision. So, first chart out the basics well to ensure you don’t go wrong with the theme and design.
Do you remember the last time you looked at Adidas or Apple logos? Did you have to cross check the brand name written on the product label to understand which company the logo belonged to? Your answer is a quick ‘No’. But why?
The visual impact on our mind is perhaps one of the strongest factors to drive a purchase. Whether it is colors, font, image, tagline, or packaging, ensure it is appealing to the eyes and impressive to register in mind. Here are some of the most essential components of brand associations.
1. Logo
A logo is the first impression of your business and it is on every piece of communication
(used for all marketing and sales activities) – So, the more relevant and meaningful, the better. Whatever your motivation or the nature of business be, a logo must reflect the core idea. Remember, it will be used by customers to identify your brand (Remember Adidas and Apple example!).
2. Hues Cues!
Even on the dullest day, you would find no dearth of colors around you. Nature has blessed us with an abundance of colors. But if you notice everything carefully, you will notice harmony and balance even in the hues of nature. This is exactly what a brand design should be about – relevance, aesthetics, and balance.
Colors have very strong emotional reactions, which, in fact, is helpful in attracting customers.
Choosing a particular color for advertising and marketing purposes, a brand can increase footfall and rake in huge profits. Let’s see what some of the common colors really say!
Red
Have you ever noticed that most of the eateries and fast-food brands have a lot of red in their branding components? Well, here is why. Red color increases appetite, and also causes one to experience a deep sense of urgency (which is why clearance sale is always written in bold red fonts!).
Yellow and Family!
Yellow and orange are very cheerful colors, with positive vibrations. They reflect excitement, enthusiasm, and even creativity. So, if you have a music studio or you deal with young people, paint a wall or two with orange for some amazingly creative ideas. Well, don’t go over the board with yellow as it can be overwhelming.
Blue
Blue belongs to a cool family of colors. It is peaceful and creates trust. It also helps increase productivity. Many corporates, banks, and IT companies use blue liberally to enhance the sense of security, trustworthiness, and professionalism.
Green
Green is the color of nature. It strongly represents fertility, nourishment, and strength. No wonder, health supplements, healthcare brands, and spas use so much green in their branding.
Purple
Purple is not just for the royal but has deep spiritual association. It is the perfect color for spiritual businesses such as yoga and meditation centers.
Black
Black is bold, period. It is all that is about confidence, power, and strength. However, one should use black with a lot of surety and creativity to ensure unique and appealing designs.
White
White indicates purity and cleanliness. It is never dull to use white – as there is a lot of room to challenge your creativity when using white. A white base with bold colorful letters is very effective to attract customers.

3. Visuals or Images
Visuals stimulate our minds and provoke the customers to make a purchase on intuitive grounds. However, these days, many brands prefer the less photoshop-ed and more real visuals for creating instant connection with consumers.
Being consistent with your brand colors and other design elements on all platforms is what gives your brand a character, and success to your branding efforts.
