My friend and his wife permitted their daughter to order a toy online. She browsed multiple websites and eventually found the one she liked. She found a toy that was vibrant in color, and made cool animal noises; it was pleasing to the eye. The child was overjoyed once the order was placed.
When the package arrived, all the child saw was a plain cardboard box and was immediately disappointed. The parents reassured the child that the actual toy was inside of the cardboard box and not the box itself. Excitement rushed back into her eyes, but when she opened the box and saw the actual toy, she was even more dissatisfied than before. What they had received in the package was not what they were expecting at all. The whole thing was a very unpleasant experience. The half full cup is the priceless lesson we learned. Your product may be good, lets not forget it isn’t the first thing they see. It’s human nature to judge by the cover.
SOCIAL MEDIA AND IMAGES
The power of social media today is huge. When we study the evolution of social media, we conclude, as more time passes - the more visual social media becomes; pictures talk, worlds walk. It started with ICQ, then My Space, and later Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc exploded and dominated the realm.
Today’s social media platform breathes the concept of less is more. Less words; more visuals. We can see from the popularity of Tik-Tok videos, people’s attention spans have gone down to about six seconds. Show them an eye catchy picture or a video with a quick hook, or else, they will keep scrolling down. These facts along with the understanding that people remember visual media teaches us the importance of branding. For a coffee shop owner, your custom coffee cups are your brand. Your customers can walk out of your coffee shop with a plain white cup, or they can walk out representing your brand every second.

GREAT COFFEE, NO NAME BRAND
This one time, I stopped to take out coffee on the way to a meeting. I was so impressed with the coffee that I decided to recommend it to my colleagues. When I had told them about the place they asked me what the café was called. This is when I realized I didn’t know the name of the café and the cup didn’t help either because it was blank. As a result, the name of the amazing café is a question mark till today. Did you ever want to recommend your friends something and not know the name?
We know the more people are exposed to logos, the more curious they’ll be about it, making them search it up and want to visit again. Branding is an important component of a business; it is your identity. Every child knows the McDonald branding, Coca Cola and Nike. Even if a customer does not purchase something from those brands, they recognize it. A properly branded business will attract more clients and are more likely to sell more than unbranded ones.
Fun fact 11 people on average will look at your to-go cup when a customer is holding it in the street.
